Responding to a request
made by Waweru Kanja, Chairman Laikipia Produce and Marketing Co-operative
Society on late disbursement of subsidized government fertilizer and the long
distance farmers make to access fertilizer. The Governor said that the County
Government has reached an agreement with the National Cereals and Produce Board
to establish fertilizer distribution centres in various parts of the County.
He added that one of the
distribution centres would be in Sipili. This will ensure that farmers in the
area to do have to travel to Nyahururu to buy subsidized government fertilizer.
He said they would work with Laikipia Produce and Marketing Cooperative Society
to ensure farmers add value to their produce.
He urged youths to be
involved in agriculture and particularly horticulture. He said that youths
would be able to improve their livelihood when they embrace agribusiness.

practicing agriculture as a business and not as a hobby. Farming is lucrative
when we embrace agribusiness. We need to change our agricultural practices,”
