A seven year old girl was on Monday
found dead in Mahiga sub location, Sipili Division in Laikipia County. The girl
identified as Virginia was a standard one pupil at Mahiga Primary School.
The girl who was staying with her
mother in Mahiga disappeared on Sunday. The mother identified as Njeri informed
her neighbours, and a group from the area started searching for her. Her body
was later found in a maize farm near Mahiga Primary school. The villagers later
informed the police. Police officers from Ol-Moran came and took her body to
Nyahururu District Hospital.
No injuries were detected on the
body. Confirming the incident, the assistant chief for Kahuruko sub-location
Mr. John Kimaiyo said that the girl’s eyes were unable to open. Villagers who
found her body alleged that the girl was raped. Meanwhile Mr. John Kimaiyo has
told the villagers not to speculate the cause of death.
Kimaiyo has told Laikipia
Rural Voices (LRV) that investigations are currently underway to determine
the cause of death.
Laikipia Rural Voices (LRV) will keep you posted on new developments.
